Scottie

Heather Scott

May 26, 1977 – June 1, 2024

Heather M. Scott finished her battle with breast cancer on June 1, 2024 at age 47.  People knew Heather as gregarious, spontaneous, loyal, joyful, curious, generous, funny, and deeply kind, and she will be profoundly missed by many.

She was born May 26, 1977 to Yvonne (Haughwout) and Walter Scott in Alexandria, Virginia.  Growing up in Fairfax, VA, Heather and friends raised ruckus and shenanigans in her neighborhood and surrounding forests.  Heather began playing soccer at a young age and continued throughout her life, and through this passion collected a wide community of friends.

Heather began working full time at age 16 and was employed as federal contractor at Price Waterhouse Coopers while she completed college at George Mason University, her mother’s alma mater.  At age 25 Heather started her career with the United States Customs and Border Protection and relocated to Seattle for an officer position.  She became an import specialist and supervisor, serving in Customs for over 20 years until her passing.  Heather served others and the public, and received well-deserved recognition and many awards. She showed up always, took care of her team, friends, and everyone around her.  She was a mentor, friend, and brilliant leader. She became family to everyone she touched, leaving a lasting impression.

Heather welcomed her son, Luke, in 2010 while in a previous marriage with Jen Magnani, and he became her world.  Heather lit up with Luke and whenever she talked about him, he was her highest priority and greatest joy.  She loved him endlessly and cherished the conversations and moments they shared.  She was privileged and proud to see him grow up to be the person he is today and to be called mama.

In 2016 Heather met Amanda Roney through soccer and shared a love of the outdoors.  They moved to Shoreline, adopted dogs, and married in 2021.  Amanda and Heather showed incredible love and devotion for each other through sickness and health, and all the times Heather was running late.  They shared both adventures and quiet moments together, supported each other with unconditional acceptance, and loved deeply.

Heather generated adventure and lived to the fullest, always seizing new experiences, and her spirit of vitality was contagious.  She traveled to Portugal, Mexico, Germany (multiple times), France, Australia and New Zealand, Japan, and all over the US.  She was a passionate fan of national and professional women’s soccer and attended 3 consecutive Women’s World Cup finals with friends and family. Heather enjoyed camping and spending time in nature, singing karaoke, laughing together, and connecting with people.

Heather was preceded in death by her mother, Yvonne, and is survived by her wife, Amanda Roney, son Luke and former wife Jen Magnani, father Walter Scott, sister April (Jon) Scott, and many beloved friends and chosen family.

A Celebration of Life was be held for Heather at 4:30pm on Sunday, August 25th, 2024 at Seattle Farm, 9761 Beacon Ave S, Seattle, WA.
